Any recipe using pure pumpkin puree, that way sweetener, sweetness, and spices can be adjusted to preference! The concept can be applied for all sorts of variations including vegan, gluten free, etc. Plus pumpkin has tons of vitamin A!

Aside from my grandma’s recipe for apple crisp, this is my typical fall drink for larger gatherings/affairs. Tweak: cut the sugar (you can always add it back).

Pumpkin bread. Instead of 2/3 cup oil, I split it equal parts applesauce and oil for a healthier option. Additionally, replace some of the sugar with raw honey. Old school @BettyCrocker has a great recipe.

Shannon Scott-Vernaglia, MD, Mass General

Kaddo bourani from Helmand Restaurant. I fell in love in Cambridge, Mass, but the recipe is from San Francisco (same owners).

I love making dessert. Highly recommend Honey Bourbon Balls.
