Highlights

Dr. Colleen Christmas, Johns Hopkins Medicine

I’ve always been fascinated by the beauty of our natural world, but in the past five years have tried to learn as much as I can about protecting her. I now compost, am compulsive about eco-safe products, and invest responsibly.

Dr. Joseph Carrese, Johns Hopkins Medicine

I try to honor Mother Earth by donating money to environmental groups, spending time in national forests and wilderness areas, appreciating the natural beauty of our world, leaving no trace when I hike, and supporting politicians who embrace policies that reflect the Native American philosophy of conducting ourselves with the well-being of the next seven generations in mind.

I’ve been working with Joseph Rael on a soon-to-be published book on his life on the Southern Ute Reservation, Picuris Pueblo, and the Santa Fe Indian Boarding School, “Becoming Who You Are: Beautiful Painted Arrow’s Life & Lessons for Children Ages 10-100.”

Dr. Carl Streed Jr, Boston Medical Center

I’m more explicit about land acknowledgements and next steps for reparations.

Dr. Margaret Chisolm, Johns Hopkins Medicine

I walk in awe of the beauty of nature every day, like brilliant red leaves on today’s grey October morning walk.

Dr. Ambereen Mehta, Johns Hopkins Medicine

When I’m running on trails, I like to imagine Mother Earth actively pushing my feet up from below to make my journey a little bit easier and a little more fun.

Gardening with the kids. Getting excited when the vegetables grow. Walking barefoot on the soil. And feeling grateful for the delicious food Mother Nature provides.
