Highlights

Dr. Colleen Christmas, Johns Hopkins Medicine

I’m happiest when I learn something—a new skill, new perspective, or history that was taught to me wrong. So, I look for books I can read and say, “I was today-years-old when I learned . . ..”

Dr. Claire Crawford, Texas

The best books I’ve read have been recommendations from trusted friends, and I have a good rec list lined up for the year with a mix of fiction and non-fiction (“Between Two Kingdoms” is up right now!). But I’m always looking for more books to add!

Dr. Margaret Chisolm, Johns Hopkins Medicine

Escape-reading and viewing sounds fine to me. But doesn’t have to be mindless: mindful escapes in which I’m full absorbed are the best!

Dr. Eric Last

Forever and ever I was reading fiction: light, heavy, and everything in between. Now I’m drawn to biographies and history. Looking for inspiration I guess. Currently reading about Jennifer Doudna. On deck: John Lewis. Inspire me!!!

Maureen Flood, NP, Johns Hopkins Medicine

I’d like to say there is some brilliant intellectual strategy, but honestly I just end up going on jags that I can’t predict. Currently, historical fiction set in the 18th century. Non-fiction, I’m feeling like early modern Europe/history of nursing is up next.

Dr. Mike Fingerhood, Johns Hopkins Medicine

I read one non-fiction and one fiction at same time. Currently Mel Brooks’ “All about me,” and Viet Thanh Nguyen’s “The Sympathizer.”

Dr. Jeff Millstein, Penn Medicine

I try to pick a mixture of fiction and non-fiction with themes around challenges of current times. I have my eye on the new David Guterson.
